Every term is defined twice: once the way a filing would put it, and once the way somebody would explain it to you across a table. The second one is usually the one that sticks.

The Ichimoku lagging line: today’s close plotted twenty-six bars into the past.

In plain terms

Carries no forward information at all. It only tells you whether price is above where it was twenty-six bars ago.
