Every term is defined twice: once the way a filing would put it, and once the way somebody would explain it to you across a table. The second one is usually the one that sticks.

Fundamental analysis

A claim on what remains after all other obligations are met.

In plain terms

That is what a share is. In a healthy company it is the point; in a failing one it is why you get nothing.
